Overview

The B-Pod Correct, developed specifically for correctional applications, has a unique combination of contemporary design and advanced technology coupled with strength, durability and sound ergonomic principles. This is all achieved while allowing for the safety considerations of corrections facilities. B-Pod Correct provides users with the ability to deliver high volumes of meals in optimum condition at ideal temperatures. With a capacity of 88 three compartment trays in one cart the user is getting productivity and safety in a user friendly system that has minimal space requirements. The unique nesting system uses a Base Station to provide and maintain cold and hot temperatures via convected air systems. Once the Pod transport / tray carrier is nested below the B-Pod the Base Station exchanges it’s cooling or heating to the food in the trays that are held in the Pod below. The Pod tray carrier can be transported from the production/tray assembly area to the Base Station for rethermalization or temperature boosting to service with virtually no secondary handling or manipulation.

Technology

The advantages of the B-Pod Correct’s integrated technology give users and supervisors alike advantages like never before. Built-in HACCP Monitoring ensures excellent food quality and safety, while the networking options through a LAN or WiFi connection means operators can interact with their fleet of equipment in real time using a centralized PC. On the B-Pod itself, the LCD Control Centre with lockable cover  gives supervisors effortless fingertip functionality for manual override of the three cycle touch pads, countdown timer with hot and cold temperatures controls. Additional features include audible alarm and automatic cycle timer with seasonal changes that can be pre-programmed.

Safety & Ergonomics

The B-Pod Correct’s unique manipulation-free nesting system allows the Pod to reside within the Base Station to effectively create a one-piece system. This approach eliminates the need for opening and closing of doors, as well as docking and inserting removable racks. With Base Stations mounted to the floor, and the ability to fit them back-to-back, the B-Pod promotes a more efficient use of space for easier workflow.

Design

Two sections comprise the B-Pod Correct: the floor-mounted Base Station and the trayed meal transporting Pod component. As with all our equipment, the combination of advanced design using durable materials distinguishes Burlodge in the workplace. Constructed entirely from 304 stainless steel, the Base Station’s front and back panels provide security and safety for the mechanical and electrical components of the system. A high velocity motor drives the unique vertical thermo-convection forced air ventilation system to ensure consistent and even heating and cooling within the B-Pod.

The Pod features 304 stainless steel and aluminum construction as well as high density insulation enclosed in the panels and doors to optimize temperature retention. Four heavy-duty castors ensure dependable maneuverability while the sizeable wrap-around rubber bumper protects against daily workplace wear-and-tear. In addition, the recessed handles and doors that open 270 degrees reflect how Burlodge endeavors to design equipment that complements and eases natural human movement.

Specifications

Burlodge builds equipment that understands food professionals require equipment that can readily adapt to their evolving needs. B-Pod Correct can be successfully used for rethermalization of chilled meals or for the boosting and holding of temperatures in a cook-serve environment. The tray support rack within the Pod accommodates a number of standard correctional tray sizes and can be used with high temperature plastics, foil or disposable ovenable cardboard trays. The Pod’s stainless steel tray supports accommodate up to 88 trays. The heating and cooling functions permit the holding of chilled meals prior to the rethermalization process which can be programmed to operate automatically or can be activated via a manual override option.
